Quenton Blache is a cellist and composer based in Los Angeles. He has performed nationally and internationally as a soloist and chamber musician and is a current member of the Sphinx Virtuosi. He has won several competitions, including the University of Southern California (USC) Bach Competition in 2021 and Strings Concerto Competition in 2023. He soloed the Dvorak Concerto with the Peninsula Symphony in February 2022, and Bloch’s Schelomo with the USC Thornton Symphony in October 2023. In August 2022, he performed in France as a member of the USC Honors Quartet at the Rencontres franco-américaines de Musique de Chambre Festival in collaboration with musicians from the Paris Conservatory. A frequent session musician, he has played on soundtracks for major films such as Moana 2 (2024) and Sinners (2025). In January 2025, he performed at the Grammy Awards with Best New Artist nominee Teddy Swims. He also served as a cello hand double and background musician actor in the Blumhouse Productions movie Nocturne (2020).
As a composer, Quenton has written works for the Little Orchestra Society, North Carolina Chamber Music Institute, MYCO Youth Chamber Orchestra, Sphinx Organization and more. His string orchestra work Habari Gani (2023), premiered by the Sphinx Virtuosi, has reached global audiences, with orchestral performances in cities including Bangkok, Thailand. He was commissioned by renowned cellist Gautier Capućon to write a piece for his upcoming album, including a premiere of the work at San Francisco Symphony’s Davies Symphony Hall. His upcoming string orchestra work A Vision for Peace will have its NY premiere at Carnegie Hall performed by the Sphinx Virtuosi in October 2025. Quenton has also scored several films, including Shape of Money (2024) and the documentary The Gospel According to Bill Pannell (2024).
Quenton holds bachelor’s degrees from USC in cello performance and composition, a minor in Chinese, and a master’s degree in screen scoring. In his spare time, he enjoys playing chess and aspires to become an International Master (IM). Quenton plays on a modern cello made by Paris-based luthier Michael Fazio.
